All about Lise

I am Lise Waring. By day I work for a Texas State agency. At the moment I am an inventory and surplus property coordinator in a warehouse. However, I also have some talents as a procedure writer, so I have three different manuals in progress at the moment.

When I am not at work, the three most likely places to find me are at:

  1. Austin Community College. I am currently seeking a degree in Technical Communications. I was amused to discover that, in the interest of privacy, ACC no longer uses social security numbers as student numbers, but numbers based on enrollment dates. I took my first class at ACC in 1981, so my student number is below 36000. I have over 140 hours in various fields. I received an Associate of Arts degree in Government in 1994. I have over 40 hours of classes related to bank operations, and another 30 or so in accounting.
  2. local square dances. At the moment, I am dancing at the mainstream level with the Austin Lambdas, advanced level with the Diamond Masters, and Challenge Level 1 with the Austin Challengers. In March 2006, I will begin Challenge Level 2 lessons. I am also on the committee for the Sew and Save panels that will be held in conjunction with the 55th National Square Dance Convention in San Antonio in June 2006.
  3. my sewing machine or sewing chair. I actually took home economics in junior high, and learned the basics of sewing there. Over the years, I have tried many forms of stitchery including cross stitch, hardanger, counted canvas, needlepoint, enmbroidery, and smocking. I sew primarily for myself and my family. I have registered the DBA Sewing By Lise and do some mending, alterations, and costume sewing for others. Once I am able to dedicate an entire room of my house to sewing, I will concentrate on expanding my sewing business.
